Born at Hexham in June, 1816. After taking the London qualification he practised in Hexham and its neighbourhood for sixty years. The country around was then very wild; much had to be done on horseback and gave rise to adventures. During that period he held various posts: Medical Officer to the Boar

Educated at St George's Hospital. He practised at Kennington, first at Harley-ford Place, and then at 302 Kennington Park Road, SE. Up to the time of his death he was Hon Physician to the Royal Female Philanthropic Society. He was a Fellow of the Medical Society of London, of the Linnean and of the
