Born on May 18th, 1808, the son of J Bulley, who came of an old Berkshire family long connected with Reading. His mother was a Blagrave, another ancient Reading family, which produced a regicide, distinguished mathematicians, and for three centuries the Reading Members of Parliament. Bulley's father

Is said to have been a witness (he could not have been a qualified medical witness) at the trial in 1824 of John Thurtell (1794-1824), who murdered William Weare, solicitor, with whom he had gambled, at Gibbs Hill, Lane Road, Radlett, on the St Albans Road, and threw the body into a swamp two miles

The son of the Rev John Pye Smith, DD, FRS, a well-known Sheffield Nonconformist minister and geologist; the son inherited his father's industry, love of knowledge, and religious principles. Pye Smith went to Mill Hill School and was then articled to Ashwell, a City practitioner; he next studied

Studied at St Bartholomew's Hospital and in Dublin. He practised at Ramsgate in partnership with Samuel Woodman (qv), was Surgeon to the Ramsgate Dispensary, and died at Ramsgate on December 1st, 1867.

Practised at Godmanchester, Hunts, where he died before October 17th, 1860.

Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, Guy's and St Thomas's Hospitals. Practised at Burton-on-Trent, where for many years he was Surgeon and then Consulting Surgeon to the Infirmary. After his retirement he lived for some twenty years at 'The Heath', Stapenhill, Burton-on-Trent, and died in 1900-1901

Was for nearly fourteen years Surgeon to the Salisbury General Infirmary, after which he practised as a surgeon at 12 Chester Street, Belgrave Square. In the fifties he removed to 2 Eaton Place. Educated at University College and Hospital. Practised in Manchester, and at the time of his death was Senior Surgeon of the Manchester and Salford Lock and Skin Disease Hospital and Surgeon to the Night Asylum. He died at his residence, Byrom House, 23 Quay Street, Manchester, on January 20th, 1883

Was at one time Surgeon to the South Staffordshire General Hospital, and then practised at Wolverhampton. He was a Fellow of the Royal Medico-Chirurgical Society, and contributed various papers to the Lancet and Provincial Medical Journal. He died of diphtheria at Wolverhampton on May 29th, 1859.

Gazetted Assistant Surgeon to the 1st Foot Guards on December 25th, 1813, being present with his regiment at Waterloo. Born on September 30th, 1805, the eldest son and second child of Jonathan William Crompton, a merchant living in Edgbaston, by his wife Martha Webster, of Penns. He was sent at an early age as a pupil to G E Male, Physician to the General Hospital at Birmingham from 1805-1816. He was afterwards appr
