Born at Chapel, near Ladybank, Fife, March 15th, 1794; educated at the High School and at the University of Edinburgh. Began his medical studies in Edinburgh, and continued them in London, Vienna, and in Paris under Dupuytren. He attached himself to the Middlesex Hospital, where he was for many year

Educated at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and settled in practice at Shrewsbury, where he died in November, 1866. He was Surgeon to the Great Western Railway, to the Provident Institution, and to the Shrewsbury Penitentiary. At the time of his death he was Surgeon Extraordinary to the Salop Infirmary.
