Born at Camberwell on June 18th, 1818, the second son of William Smee, accountant-general to the Bank of England. He entered St Paul's School, then situated in St Paul's Churchyard, on November 7th, 1829, and became a student at King's College, London, in October, 1834. Here he won the Silver Medal
