Resident Surgeon to the Wakefield Dispensary from 1839-1841, when he became Medical Superintendent of the York Asylum, a post he held from 1841-1845, after which he acted as Superintendent of the General and County Lunatic Asylum of Nottinghamshire, and last of all of the West Riding Asylum at Wakef

Practised at Lancaster, and was for many years Medical Superintendent of the County Lunatic Hospital there. He died in retirement at his residence, Argyll Road, Kensington, on March 24th, 1888.
