Educated at St George's Hospital. He practised at King's Lynn, Norfolk (Kendall & Woodward), and at the time of his death was Surgeon to the Prince and Princess of Wales at Sandringham, Senior Surgeon (formerly House Surgeon) to the West Norfolk and Lynn Hospital, Admiralty Surgeon and Agent for Lyn

The son of Henry Ransom, Trinity Street, Cambridge; studied at University College, London, and then practised at Cambridge, where he was Medical Officer of Health and District Surgeon to the Railways. He served on the Town Council from November, 1858, to October, 1863, when he was appointed Surgeon
