Was at one time Surgeon to Queen Adelaide's Lying-in Hospital and to the Harrison Spinal Hospital. Afterwards he was Superintendent of the Seamen's Hospital, Constantinople. He practised later at 18 Whitworth Road, South Norwood, where he died on December l3th, 1889.

Born in the neighbourhood of Wigan, to which his family belonged. He was apprenticed to Christopher Morris, of Wigan, and later, in 1830, became a student at St Bartholomew's and University College Hospitals. He was Surgeon to the Royal Isle of Wight Infirmary, to Parkhurst Prison, and to the Isle of Wight Artillery Regiment of Militia. In 1859 he was elected an Alderman of the Borough. He died on October 7th, 1886.
