John Richardson had a distinguished career in the Royal Naval Medical Service as a surgeon serving at home and at sea. He was professor of naval surgery and later dean of naval medicine. Ernest Briant studied medicine at the Westminster Hospital where he was house surgeon on the irradiation unit and senior casualty officer. He joined the RAMC and became consultant surgeon in orthopaedics with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He died on 30 April 2002.
