Ernest Briant studied medicine at the Westminster Hospital where he was house surgeon on the irradiation unit and senior casualty officer. He joined the RAMC and became consultant surgeon in orthopaedics with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He died on 30 April 2002.

Having qualified in New Zealand, Kevin Ross came to England to specialise in surgery and passed the FRCS in 1960. He then returned to Hutt, where he was on the staff of the Department of Surgery, Hutt Hospital. He died in late 2000, survived by his wife, Phillippa.
