Born on March 21st, 1854, at St Margaret's, Collier Street, Yalding, Kent, the fourth son of the Rev Thomas Milles, for thirty years Vicar of Yalding. Born at Gawcott, Buckinghamshire, on July 14th, 1855, the second son of the Rev T C Whitehead, Head Master of Christ's College, Finchley. He studied at Charing Cross Hospital, and, becoming FRCS, was appointed Assistant Surgeon to Charing Cross Hospital in 1881. He was also Assistant Surgeon to the
