Eufrasio Bengoechea Gonzalez was a vascular and transplant surgeon from Toledo, Spain. He specialised in surgery in the UK, becoming a fellow of the Edinburgh college in 1961 and of the English college in 1962. For the next 10 years he worked in Northampton, Nottingham, Chester, Liverpool and Tulane

Sir Peter Morris was the Nuffield professor of surgery, chairman of the department of surgery and director of the Oxford transplant centre at the University of Oxford and president of the Royal College of Surgeons of England from 2001 to 2004. He was born in Horsham in the state of Victoria, Austral
