Educated at Glasgow and Manchester, and at the time of his death was Surgeon to the Ashton-under-Lyne District Infirmary, Union Medical Officer, Certifying Factory Surgeon, and Medical Officer of Health at Hurst and Dunkinfield. His death occurred at Ashton-under-Lyne on September 27th, 1878.

Practised at Sheffield, where he was Medical Referee to several Assurance Societies, and died in 1865.
