Practised in partnership with John E Ranking at Tunbridge Wells, and was Surgeon to the Infirmary. He died on July 30th, 1876, at his residence, Hanover House, Tunbridge Wells.

Was Surgeon to the Bristol General Hospital until his death at 24 Park Street, Bristol, on September 27th, 1861. He had been at one time a Vice-President of the Paris Medical Society.
