Entered the Army as Surgeon's Mate, unattached, on December 19th, 1811. In May, 1813, he became Hospital Assistant, and on June 3rd, 1813, was gazetted Assistant Surgeon to the 40th Foot. He went on half pay on October 26th, 1814, and exchanged on full pay, on February 16th, 1815, to the 74th Foot.

Practised at Newcastle-under-Lyme, where he was Surgeon to the North Staffordshire Infirmary. After about 1850 he went to live in Italy, and died in or before 1890.

Was for many years assistant to a surgeon. He died at Swansea on November 26th, 1854.
