Educated at the Royal College of Surgeons and Trinity College, Dublin, and at the University of Glasgow. He was a Surgeon in the Navy, and died in retirement at his residence, Northland Row, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, in 1879 or 1880.

Practised at Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and died at Clifton on February 28th, 1856. His younger brother was Nathaniel Rumsey (qv).

Practised at Durham in partnership with Edward Kane Jepson (qv), and was Surgeon to the Durham Infirmary. He died at 55 Old Elvet, Durham, on November 11th, 1858.

Practised at Taunton, where he was Surgeon to the Taunton and Somerset Hospital, later at Soho Hill, Birmingham, and finally at 145 Portsdown Road, London, W, where he died on March 24th, 1883.

At the time of his death was Government Medical Inspector of Emigrants at the Port of Liverpool. He resided at 13 Sugnall Street, Liverpool, and died in December, 1857.
