Practised in Halifax. He is described in the obituary notice as firm and decisive in manner, indefatigably industrious. As a surgeon he excelled, and of nine cases of strangulated hernia upon which he operated, eight were successful. He was a member of the Halifax Literary and Philosophical Society

Practised at 14 Bow Lane, City of London. He was Surgeon to the Royal Maternity Charity, later Referee to the Universal Provident Life Assurance Society. He died on August 29th, 1860.

Removing late in life to Weymouth, he practised for a time at 7 Victoria Terrace, and after his retirement resided at Rodwell Lodge, where he died on February 1st
